RPET is recycled PET plastic that has been reprocessed and used to make new products.
PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, which is one of the most common plastics in everyday life. For example, most plastic bottles are made of PET plastic. Even though RPET is recycled, it can still be used for anything that is normally made of polyester, so it is perfect for, for example, Lasessor's eco-friendly rain gear.

RPET-Plastic
We all need to do our part by recycling plastic waste and avoiding littering. After the recyclable plastics have been collected, cleaned and sterilized, they are shredded into small chips. These chips are melted down into yarns that are used to weave RPET fabric. After a detailed design process, LASESSOR X - RPET umbrellas, durable bags and phone cases are created from this high-quality recycled material.
Although plastic has many useful uses, it should not be wasted. 380 million tons of plastic are produced annually, of which up to 50% are single-use products (UN environmental program UNEP, 2023).
After just one use, these plastics end up in landfills, where they can take thousands of years to biodegrade. Abandoned plastic waste can also end up in the ocean, where it slowly breaks down into tiny pieces called microplastics. Microplastics have been found in marine life, from plankton to whales, and through seafood they enter our food chain and have even been detected in drinking water.
RPET is a recycling initiative that should be taken up: RPET prevents plastic waste from ending up in landfills or the sea and keeps valuable materials in circulation. By reusing already existing material, RPET also reduces the need for energy and resources.
